FOSS4G Hiroshima 2026 is looking for passionate volunteers to help make this event a success! Whether you want to be involved in the planning process or support us on the event days, we welcome your participation.

Types of Volunteers

Main Volunteers

Main volunteers are core team members who participate continuously from the preparation stage through the event itself. You'll be deeply involved in planning, organizing, and executing various aspects of the conference. This is an excellent opportunity to shape the event and work closely with the organizing committee.

Day-of Volunteers

Day-of volunteers support the event during the conference days. Your responsibilities may include reception, venue guidance, session support, and assisting attendees. This is a great way to contribute while fully experiencing the conference atmosphere.

Participation Requirements

Volunteers must plan to attend FOSS4G Hiroshima 2026 as participants. We're looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about open-source geospatial technologies and want to contribute to the community while enjoying the conference.

  • Main Volunteers: Limited positions available
  • Day-of Volunteers: Approximately 10

What Will You Do?

Depending on your interests and skills, you can contribute in various areas:

  • Event Content Planning: Help design sessions, workshops, and conference programs
  • Academic Paper Review: Participate in the review process for academic submissions
  • Facility and Operations Management: Support venue logistics and day-to-day operations
  • Public Relations and Communications: Assist with social media, announcements, and community outreach
  • Sponsor Relations: Help coordinate with sponsors and manage partnerships
  • Participant Registration and Travel Grant Program: Support attendee registration and travel grant processes
  • Ice Breaker and Gala Dinner: Plan and support social events
  • MC/Moderator: Facilitate sessions and presentations during the event
  • Venue Guidance: Help attendees navigate the conference venue
  • Reception: Welcome participants and provide information at registration desks

Volunteer Benefits

Conference Registration Fee Discount or Waiver

Details will be announced as they are finalized. Volunteers are expected to receive a discounted or complimentary conference registration fee. Please note that peer review for academic sessions is not eligible for this benefit.

Please fill out our volunteer application form. The information you provide will be reviewed by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC). Due to capacity constraints, we may not be able to accommodate all applicants, but we appreciate your interest in supporting FOSS4G Hiroshima 2026!
