Toshi is a social geographer and geospatial information scientist at Komazawa University, Japan and visiting researcher at the 3D geoinformation research group at TU Delft. He is a member of OSGeo.JP, OpenStreetMap Foundation Japan, and an OSGeo foundation charter member. In recent years, he has been engaged in research on participatory GIS and civic-tech open data.

Yuichiro Nishimura is a professor at Nara Women's University. His original research focuses on time-geographical studies; recently he has been deeply involved in studies about GIS and society in Japan. He has been active in FOSS4G activities in Japan and has participated in several global conferences since 2011. He was elected as an OSGeo Charter Member in 2015, and has organised several global SotM events in Japan, IGU Kyoto Regional Conference 2013, and ICC Tokyo 2019.

Jin Igarashi is a senior software developer working on geospatial for many years. Since he was involved in water projects as a GIS developer in Eastern Africa in 2014, he has developed and maintained several open source software tools (called GIS for water) supporting water utilities in Africa. Zenichi Takeuchi is a Master’s student at Tottori University, specializing in Geographic Information Science (GIS). His research involves the classification of abandoned farmland and evaluating its potential for forest conversion. His work utilizes spatial analysis to support sustainable land management in rural areas.

I work at the Geodetic Institute of Slovenia in Ljubljana as Head of Digital Transformation and contribute to projects as a Senior Geospatial Data Scientist and Remote Sensing Specialist. I hold a PhD in Environmental Protection focused on the hyperspectral remote sensing of heavy metals. My work centers around the analysis of multispectral, hyperspectral, and SAR imagery, as well as LiDAR point clouds, though I enjoy tackling data problems of all kinds. I rely heavily on Python, GRASS, GDAL, PDAL, QGIS, and PostgreSQL for data torturing and distribution. I love Linux. I currently serve as the secretary of OSGeo Slovenia.

A.J. Koikoi is Senior Programme Director, Global Education & Strategic Initiatives at Eukarya, where he works at the intersection of open-source geospatial technology, education, and international collaboration. Previously at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), he supported and led global education and capacity-building programmes focused on peace, sustainable development, and emerging technologies. His current work centers on making geospatial and digital tools more accessible through education and participatory approaches.

Hirofumi Hayashi is an award-winning GIS Developer with a 35-year career dedicated to advancing Open Source GIS (FOSS4G). As a key architect behind OSGeo4W and a founder of the OSGeo Japan Chapter, he has significantly lowered barriers to GIS adoption globally. He continues to shape the industry through his work with the ZOO-Project and FOSS4G ASIA, earning accolades such as the 2010 IPA Japan OSS Contributor Award and the 2024 Good Design Award.

I enjoy GIS programming for ecology and environmental studies. I work as a freelancer in remote sensing analysis and surveying-related tasks. I see the future in the intersection of AR/VR/MR and FOSS4G.

I have been involved with the OSGeo.JP since around 2018, contributing mainly to the organization and operation of community events and activities. Through this work, I have supported local OSGeo and FOSS4G-related initiatives, helping to strengthen connections within the open source geospatial community in Japan. In my previous role, I have also given several talks on topics such as vector tiles, sharing practical knowledge and experiences with the community.

I joined this activity because of my passion for GIS and maps. Although I don't have much experience in programming or global events yet, I'm eager to contribute in any way I can. I look forward to working with you all!

Taichi Furuhashi is passionate about mapping, connecting local communities with maps, and sharing knowledge to empower people. As you know, the Huge Earthquake and Tsunami destroyed a lot of cities and local communities in the East Japan area, 2011. He and local people are trying, how to make a more resilient society with Mapping, Panorama/VR, and Drone technology. Taichi is a professor at Aoyama Gakuin University and President of CrisisMappers Japan, NPO. Now he has started DRONEBIRD project with drones for Disaster Crisis Response, supported by WeRobotics/FlyingLabsNetwork. In addition, he has worked as advisory board chairman of Project PLATEAU as 3D Digital Twin.

I am an engineer specializing in GIS, remote sensing, and AI at a Japanese aerial surveying company. I combine satellite imagery, aerial photography, and machine learning to tackle real-world challenges through geospatial technology. Beyond my daily engineering duties, I serve as an advocate for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s 3D city model initiative, “Project PLATEAU,” since 2024. Through this role, I contribute to community activities aimed at promoting the development and adoption of 3D city models.

I am an early-career researcher in the field of geographic information science. My research focuses in particular on the development of geospatial data for cultural heritage information and its application to cultural heritage preservation and historical research.

Satoshi is a GIS engineer and project leader focused on building open-source spatial data platforms for Japanese municipalities and national organisations. His work spans the development of modern geospatial data infrastructures, including open data catalogues, web-based mapping systems, and real-time data integration frameworks. He leads end-to-end development-from requirements definition and system architecture to implementation and infrastructure operations—and contributes to Japan’s OSGeo community.

Independent Researcher / Spatial Data Scientist. I analyze how urban space structures human behavior through the lens of information geometry. My current research tracks a change of pedestrian trajectories from street video at stations before and after the intervention(Individual protest demonstration), constructing statistical manifolds from movement distributions to measure how city shapes the people who move through it. My background spans magnetotelluric surveys of submarine volcanoes, 3D point cloud measurement for railway infrastructure, commercial site development analysis, and tourism analytics.

Ayaka Onohara is a researcher working at the intersection of statistical science, cultural and linguistic evolution, and geospatial data analysis. Her recent work focuses on place–emotion datasets, GeoAI, and GAN-based modeling of spatial and cultural dynamics. She develops open and reproducible workflows using Python, QGIS, and cloud-native geospatial tools, and actively contributes to educational and community initiatives within the FOSS4G ecosystem.

Dr. Ryo Suzumoto is a Co-founder of ArkEdge Space Inc., focusing on geospatial information platforms leveraging satellite data, business and community development, and the computing infrastructure that supports satellite systems.
